수원 교구장 이용훈 주교님, 양평본당 사목방문(2017.04.09, 성지주일)
The Most Rev. Mattias Ri Yong-Hoon, Bishop of Suwon, pastoral visitation of Yang Pyeong Parrish, where was called and written another Antiochia of Korea by St. bishop Antoine Davelluy, the fifth Ordinary of Korean Diocese.
Yang Pyeong is the very famous home town historically, where Servers of God, Ambrouse Kwon Cheol Shin & Francise Kwon Yil Shin, martyr brothers co-founding fathers of the Catholic Church in Korea. Very learned academic brothers, respected by King Jeong Jo, devoted themselves to evanglize their home area with the new religion, Catholic Church's teaching of the first faith generation, young savants's christian community for the first time in Chon Jin Am by themselves sponteniously studied more than 10 years. YangPyeong was belonging to the Kwanggiu Province, like Chon Jin Am, the great holy native place of the Catholic Church in Korea in the very near connected same provincial headquarter of the central Korea, Kyeong-Ki-Do.
Now, Suwon diocese of the Most Rev. Mattias Ri Yong-Hoon, helped by 2 Auxilliary bishops with 450 very young priests carries out major seminary of 150 seminarians, 250 parrishes, and ,about 900,000 catholics so that the Suwon diocese is now the 2nd big diocese following up the Seoul archidiocese in Korea, the biggest archidiocese in Korea.
Yang Peong Parrish and its parrishpriest Rev. Don Bosco Ro Seonh Ho, very youn priest of 15 years after ordination , exclusively there very many young altar boys'group of 35 children, and, many Sunday school children too. Really, it's not easy to see isuch a kind of young children pastoration in an other parrishes today now even in Korean churches. Some years ago, there were 7 major seminarians in this parrish, but , now we hope the young aspirant children will be able to follow their foregoing friends in the way of vocatin for priesthood with the spirit & virture of their faith ancestors !
