지난 23일, 스페인의 부르고스에서는, 5명의 순교자들이 새로 시복되었읍니다. 새 복자들은 지난 1936년 스페인 내란 때 반란군들이 살해한 5명의 죽음을 순교로 인정하여, 새로 시복되었는데, 돈 발렌틴 신부와 4명의 청소년들입니다. 이들은 1936년 1월 15일 밤, 반란군들이 살해한 후 외딴 곳에 갖다가 버렸는데, "발렌틴 신부는 사제이니까 죽였다"는 증언에 의해서, 이들의 죽음을 순교로 인정하여, 이번에 시복되었읍니다. 시성부 장관 아마또 추기경이 교황대리로 현지에 가서 시복식 거행에 참석하였읍니다. 주례는 아마 현지 사목권자(부르고스 대교구장?)가 집전하셨는지!?

Sono stati beatificati oggi a Burgos, in Spagna, il sacerdote Valentín Palencia Marquina e quattro compagni martiri, uccisi in odio alla fede nel 1936 durante la guerra civile spagnola. Al rito era presente anche il cardinale Angelo Amato, prefetto della Congregazione delle Cause dei Santi. 사실, '신앙에 대한 증오심(in odio fidei)으로' 죽임을 당한 한국 천주교회 창립성조들과 수많은 신도들이 죽임을 당한 이유는 모두가 천주교 신앙 때문이었읍니다. 천주교 신앙이 아니었다면, 죽임을 당할 이유가 없기 때문입니다. 중국의 쟝 화일루(河北衡水,張懷祿(장회록), 1843~1900)와 치주제(河北深縣,郗柱子(치주자), 1882~1900)역시 서태후의 난 때, 어떤 시골에서, 천주교 신도들의 모임에 몇번 참석한 죄로, 세례도 받지 않았으나, 단지 천주교 신앙에 대한 증오심으로 죽임을 당하여, 1955년 비오12세 교황이 시복하였고, 2000년에 성 요한바오로 2세 교황이 시성하였읍니다.

한국의 모든 신도들과 특히 시복시성 업무에 관심이 있는 분들이 참고할 예가 아닐까 합니다.천주께 대한 신앙 때문에 죽임을 당한 신앙인들은 모두가 순교자들이고, 시복의 대상자들입니다. 2천년 전, 예수 아기 탄생 때, 베들레헴 지역에서 태어난 3살 아래 어린 아기들이 장차 천하를 통일할 만왕의 왕으로 태어난 아기 예수를 증오한 당시 헤로데 왕의 근위병들한테 약 25명 내외가 무참히 살해되었는데, 이 아기들은 자신들이 왜 죽어야 하는지도 모르고 살해되었으나, 사도시대부터 천주교회는 이 어린이들을, 거룩한 아기 순교자들로 공경하고 있읍니다. 예수님 때문에 죽어야 했던 아기들이기 때문입니다.-Msgr. In Burgos the Beatification of Fr Valentín Palencia Marquina- Martyred for being a priest -2016-04-25 L’Osservatore Romano-

“Killed because he was a priest”. This was the real reason for the martyrdom of Fr. Valentín Palencia Marquina (1871-1937), who was assassinated along with four young lay people: Donato Rodríguez García, Germán García García, Zacarías Cuesta Campo, and Emilio Huidobro Corrales.

Their only fault was wanting to defend the faith and share the fate of their father, teacher and friend. Cardinal Angelo Amato, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, recalled the event of the five martyrs on the occasion of their beatification. The Cardinal, as Pope Francis’ representative, presided at the Rite on Saturday morning, 23 April, in the Cathedral of Burgos, Spain.

“Cognizant of the imminent danger, the martyrs, before the massacre”, the Cardinal said, “prayed much, in order to prepare themselves for death with a meek and forgiving attitude”. They made “no act of rebellion”. He then shared details of the final moments of Fr Valentín’s life: he managed to preserve a consecrated host in his pocket, as the viaticum for his meeting with the Lord.
